TLDR Bortezomib chemotherapy can cause temporary skin rashes.
In 2016, a study was conducted on two patients who developed multiple plaques on their trunk after undergoing bortezomib chemotherapy. Bortezomib, a proteasome inhibitor, is a first-line therapy for multiple myeloma and is known to cause various side effects, including cutaneous reactions. The patients' lesions appeared several days post-chemotherapy and disappeared spontaneously within about a week. This study added to the existing literature on bortezomib-induced cutaneous adverse reactions, which include folliculitis-like rash, pruriginous rash, purpuric rash, mouth swelling, stomatitis-mucositis, edema in the lower limbs, telogen effluvium, and vasculitis.
