A Boggy Swelling of the Scalp

    A 32-year-old Afro-Caribbean man presented with a 10-year history of a slow-growing, tender mass on his scalp, diagnosed as tumoral calcinosis (TC), a rare disorder characterized by calcium salt deposition in subcutaneous tissue. The condition is typically found over major joints and is extremely rare on the scalp, with only two previous cases reported. Histopathological examination revealed calcium deposits, lymphohistiocytes, giant cells, and dermal necrosis. TC predominantly affects healthy individuals in their first or second decades and is more common in Afro-Caribbean populations.
