TLDR Bitter melon leaves extract, especially at 10% concentration, promotes hair growth effectively.
The study investigated the effect of bitter melon leaves (Momordica charantia L.) extract on hair growth in male rabbits using a modified Tanaka method. Rabbits' backs were divided into 7 plots, treated with Minoxidil 2% as a positive control, distilled water as a normal control, and various concentrations of the extract (0.625%, 1.25%, 5%, and 10%). Hair growth was measured every 3 days from the 3rd to the 15th day. Results indicated that the extract, particularly at a 10% concentration, effectively promoted hair growth, outperforming the positive control.
