TLDR Biotin does not significantly help with hair growth.
The review aimed to evaluate the efficacy of biotin as a hair supplement by analyzing existing literature. Only three studies met the inclusion criteria. The highest quality study, which was double-blind and placebo-controlled, found no significant difference in hair growth between the biotin and placebo groups. The other two studies, which focused on specific patient populations (patients on isotretinoin and female patients post-sleeve gastrectomy), were prone to biases and did not show compelling results favoring biotin. The review concluded that despite biotin's popularity, there is a significant gap between public perception and scientific evidence, with high-quality studies not supporting its use as a hair supplement.
