TLDR Low calcium and dietary issues may contribute to hair loss.
This study investigates the correlation between Ayurvedic etiological factors (hetus) and biochemical parameters in individuals with Khalitya (hair loss). Conducted with 40 participants, it integrates classical Ayurvedic concepts with modern biochemical analysis, focusing on serum calcium and phosphorus levels. The study found that 55% of participants had below-reference serum calcium levels, while phosphorus levels were normal. Frequent Ayurvedic hetus included Viruddha Ahara, Lavana Rasa Atisevana, and Kshara Atisevana. The findings highlight the connection between Asthi Dhatu and hair physiology, emphasizing the role of dietary incompatibilities and calcium insufficiency in hair loss. The study suggests an integrative approach to prevention, combining Ayurvedic principles with nutritional and scalp health practices, and recommends further research with expanded biochemical profiling and larger participant groups.
