TLDR Minoxidil's effectiveness decreases as vehicle evaporates; concentration and thermodynamic activity matter.
This study examines how the evaporation of the vehicle affects the delivery of minoxidil in topical delivery systems. The study found that the bioavailability of minoxidil in topical delivery systems decreases as the vehicle evaporates. The rate of minoxidil delivery in topical systems decreases as the vehicle evaporates, and the concentration of minoxidil in the vehicle affects its absorption. The study recommends careful consideration of minoxidil concentration in topical delivery systems to optimize bioavailability. The thermodynamic activity of the drug in the vehicle is a major factor in determining how much of the drug gets through the skin.
