    TLDR A new gene causes hairlessness and skin cysts in rats.
    The study identified a new hairless gene, termed atrichosis (at), in the Donryu strain of rats. Histological analysis revealed that the skin of atrichotic rats was similar to human skin with multiple follicular cysts, a type of skin tumor found in humans.
