TLDR Male pattern baldness affects 38.52% of Asian men in Bangkok, increasing with age and possibly linked to environment and diet.
The study aimed to determine the prevalence of male pattern baldness (MPB) in Asian men in Bangkok, Thailand. A total of 1124 men completed the questionnaire, and the prevalence of cosmetically significant MPB was found to be 38.52%, steadily increasing with age and approaching that of Caucasians. The study concluded that the prevalence of MPB in Asians is not as low as previously thought, and the cause of this increasing prevalence is uncertain. The socioeconomic environment and westernized diet may contribute to this prevalence.
