Analytical Determination, Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Activities of Bhamrung-Lohit, a Traditional Thai Medicine

    The study explores the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of Bhamrung-Lohit (BRL), a traditional Thai medicine made from 38 plant ingredients. Using chemical and cellular assays, BRL demonstrated significant antioxidant activity through DPPH and ABTS●+ radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting nitric oxide production. Notably, C. sappan was identified as a potent component. Additionally, the study developed and validated a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for quantifying major compounds in BRL, providing a quality control standard for future development. This research is the first to report BRL's anti-inflammatory activity and validate an HPLC method for its quality control.
