TLDR Fennel extract cream can reduce hair thickness in people with excessive hair growth.
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, the efficacy of topical Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) extract in treating idiopathic hirsutism was evaluated. Thirty-eight patients were treated with creams containing 1% and 2% Fennel extract, as well as a placebo. Results showed that the 2% Fennel cream significantly reduced hair diameter by 18.3%, compared to 7.8% for the 1% Fennel cream and -0.5% for the placebo. This indicated that the 2% Fennel extract was more effective in reducing hair growth than the 1% extract and placebo.
