TLDR Probe detects finasteride with high selectivity and low detection limit.
The study describes the use of capped mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) conjugated with an antibody as a delivery system that can release an entrapped cargo in the presence of a target molecule. The material was tested for the selective detection of finasteride, and it was found to have a highly selective response, with a detection limit as low as 20 ppb. The material was also tested for the detection of finasteride in biological samples, and it was found to have a recovery range of 94% to 118%. The study suggests that this approach is a promising one for bringing molecular and supramolecular concepts to new advances in the field of nanoscience.
