TLDR The new hydrogel with silver helps wounds heal faster and better in mice.
The study investigated the effects of two types of hydrogels, O5G5 and O3G7, on the repair of full-thickness wounds in mice. These hydrogels were created using ovalbumin and gelatin, with silver ions added for antibacterial properties. The results showed that the O3G7 hydrogel significantly accelerated the healing of acute wounds more than the O5G5 hydrogel. The O3G7 hydrogel promoted protein production during wound repair, increased the hydroxyproline content in the wound, and increased the type I collagen content in the wound. This suggests that ovalbumin-based hydrogels, particularly those with a higher ratio of gelatin, can effectively promote wound healing.
