TLDR Phenolic compounds from Quercus acutissima leaves, especially casuarinin, may help treat acne.
The study investigates the antiacne and anti-inflammatory effects of phenolic compounds from Quercus acutissima Carruth leaves. The researchers isolated several phenolic compounds, including hyperoside, astragalin, KGG, QGG, pedunculagin, and casuarinin, using NMR. The compounds, particularly casuarinin, demonstrated significant antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antiacne activities in vitro using RAW 264.7 mouse macrophage cells. These findings suggest that these phenolic compounds, especially casuarinin, could be potential therapeutic candidates for treating acne.
