TLDR Type II diabetes is not linked to hair loss in women.
This study investigated the distribution of androgenic alopecia among women with type II diabetes compared to healthy women in Isfahan City, Iran. The case-control study included 141 women in each group, with participants selected randomly and assessed for alopecia severity using the Ludwish criteria. The results showed no significant association between type II diabetes and androgenic alopecia, even after adjusting for body mass index. The study concluded that there was no significant relationship between type II diabetes and androgenic alopecia in the sample population, suggesting the need for further research to explore this relationship in both genders and consider insulin resistance indices.
