Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common form of nonscarring hair loss, with recent advancements in understanding its pathogenesis leading to more effective treatments. The article discusses the genetic basis of AGA and the role of stem cells in its development. Diagnosis can now be aided by Trichoscopy, and while traditional treatments like topical minoxidil, systemic Finasteride, and hair transplants remain prevalent, new treatment modalities are being explored. The article also addresses the psychosocial impact of AGA and its association with cardiovascular conditions, noting that men are more frequently affected by this systematic hair loss.
