TLDR A new system was created to classify skin changes in cancer patients based on their treatment.
The study conducted at the Faculdade de Medicina do ABC aimed to catalog and treat dermatological and cosmetic changes in oncology patients undergoing surgical, chemotherapeutic, and/or radiotherapeutic treatments. It introduced a novel classification system dividing these changes into three groups: those triggered, aggravated, and unrelated to oncological treatment. The study also categorized the changes based on the type of oncological treatment received. This classification was unprecedented in the medical literature at the time.
