TLDR No link between hair loss severity and PSA levels in men.
The study investigated the association between the severity of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in 1,018 men aged 30-68 years. The participants were categorized into severe and mild AGA groups based on the Hamilton-Norwood scale. The results showed no correlation between serum PSA levels and the severity of AGA across different age groups. Among the young group, 4.1% had high PSA levels, while 3.9% of the old group had high PSA levels. The study concluded that there was no baseline correlation between serum PSA levels and AGA severity, and further research was planned to explore changes in PSA levels following finasteride treatment.
