TLDR Alopecia areata doesn't significantly change the risk of common infections.
This population-based cohort study investigated the relationship between alopecia areata (AA) and the risk of common infections. The findings suggested that there was no clinically significant increase or decrease in the incidence of common infections among individuals with AA. The observed association might have been due to a higher likelihood of people with AA engaging with healthcare services, leading to more recorded infections, rather than a true link between AA and infection risk.
