    Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder causing hair loss on the scalp, face, and body, leading to significant psychosocial impacts such as anxiety and depression. The disease course is unpredictable with no cure, and current treatments have limited effectiveness and high relapse rates. This article reviews perspectives from both clinicians and patients, highlighting unmet needs and gaps in care.
