Aloe vera's natural juices were used externally to treat a variety of skin conditions such as poison ivy, insect bites, acne, psoriasis, eczema, and burns, among others. It was also applied to inflamed joints for rheumatism relief and used on the scalp for hair problems. Internally, under professional supervision, it was prescribed for issues like dysentery, stomach ulcers, and liver toxicity. A cosmetic company cultivated over 100,000 Aloe vera plants in Texas, using the gel in various products like cleansers, shampoos, and moisturizers. The natural gel was generally considered more effective when used externally.
