TLDR ALDOA levels drop in hair cells during hair loss.
Levels of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase A (ALDOA) decrease in hair keratinocytes during androgenetic alopecia (AGA). ALDOA is involved in the morphological alteration of hair keratinocytes during elongation of hair shafts, and a decrease in ALDOA in vellus hairs might be involved in reduced hair shaft elongation. However, the mechanism behind the association of ALDOA with the progression of AGA remains to be fully clarified. Further studies are needed to elucidate the involvement of ALDOA in AGA.
