TLDR The combination of high-dose toremifene and capecitabine was effective for advanced recurrent breast cancer.
A 36-year-old woman with advanced recurrent breast cancer, who resisted hair loss, was treated with a combination of high-dose toremifene (120 mg/day) and capecitabine after initial treatments and recurrence. Despite developing hand-foot syndrome, which improved with vitamin B6, she complied well with the dosing schedule. By October 2005, no new metastases were detected, suggesting that this double-drug regimen is effective for patients unable to use anthracyclines or taxanes.
