TLDR CVP therapy showed moderate success in treating advanced non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but more intensive treatment is needed for better outcomes.
The study involved 31 patients with advanced non-Hodgkin's lymphoma treated with CVP therapy, which included vincristine, cyclophosphamide, and prednisolone. The median age was 56 years, and the majority had diffuse histological types. Out of 28 patients with measurable disease, 53% achieved complete response (CR) and 18% partial response (PR). The median time to CR was 20 days, with a response duration of 14 months. Survival was better for complete responders, with 80% surviving 1 year and 47% surviving 3 years. The treatment's toxicities were mild and included peripheral neuropathy, hair loss, and leukopenia. The study suggested the need for more intensive chemotherapy to improve CR rates and duration.
