TLDR A 6-year-old girl experienced temporary hair loss after mild COVID-19, which improved naturally in 8 months.
This document presents a rare case of acute telogen effluvium in a 6-year-old girl following a mild SARS-CoV-2 infection. Telogen effluvium is a temporary, non-scarring form of diffuse hair loss that can occur after a stressful event, such as a viral infection. The girl experienced hair loss one month after recovering from COVID-19, which manifested with mild symptoms like fever and sore throat. A thorough dermatological evaluation confirmed the diagnosis, ruling out other causes of hair loss. No medication was prescribed, and the condition improved naturally after 8 months. This case underscores the rarity of post-COVID-19 telogen effluvium in children and highlights the importance of reassuring patients about its reversible nature.
