TLDR Ayurvedic oils effectively reduce scalp bacteria and improve hair health.
This study investigated the effectiveness of Ayurvedic base and essential oils in controlling scalp bacteria colonies. The results showed a statistically significant decrease in bacteria colonies in six tested groups, except for the Pitta group treated with sesame and lavender. Specifically, sesame oil reduced bacteria in the Vata group, and coconut and lavender oils were effective for the Pitta group over time. The oils were generally effective in restraining bacterial growth regardless of constitution. Subjective evaluations indicated significant improvements in scalp keratin, pain, sebum levels, and hair damage after oil application, except for inflammation, suggesting oils also improved hair damage.
