TLDR The document does not conclude the effectiveness of the 800-nm pulsed-diode laser for treating scalp cellulitis.
A 35-year-old black man with recalcitrant dissecting cellulitis of the scalp, unresponsive to various treatments including isotretinoin, dapsone, and antibiotics, underwent treatment with an 800-nm pulsed-diode laser. The laser treatment, performed in 4 sessions with a fluence of 29 J/cm², resulted in significant hair removal and a dramatic decrease in discomfort. At a 6-month follow-up, the patient's condition was quiescent with no hair regrowth. This case suggested that laser-assisted epilation could be a viable option for patients with follicle-associated diseases who do not respond to conventional therapies.
