TLDR Low-dose 800 nm laser effectively treats blackheads and coarse pores without harming cell growth.
The study investigated the effects of an 800 nm semiconductor laser on skin blackheads and coarse pores using 24 guinea pigs. The animals were divided into groups receiving different treatments, including low-dose and high-dose laser treatments. Results showed that the low-dose laser effectively treated blackheads and coarse pores by promoting hair follicle cell apoptosis and increasing the expression of proteins associated with cell death, such as caspase-3 and Bax, while not reducing PCNA expression. The high-dose laser group showed the highest levels of apoptosis and protein expression changes, indicating a stronger effect. The findings suggested that the low-dose laser was beneficial for treating skin conditions without adversely affecting cell proliferation.
