TLDR A six-year-old girl unusually had a hair loss condition common in middle-aged women.
In 2017, a case was reported of a 6-year-old girl presenting with alopecia areata incognita (AAI), a condition typically found in middle-aged women. AAI is a form of diffuse hair loss that can mimic telogen effluvium or androgenetic alopecia, but is identified through dermascopic examination and histopathology. Unlike classical alopecia areata, AAI does not present with typical bald patches, but rather with sudden, intense hair shedding and diffuse alopecia developing over several months. The case of the 6-year-old girl is notable due to the rarity of AAI occurring in children.
