TLDR People with chronic hair shedding had much lower vitamin D levels compared to healthy people.
In a retrospective analysis conducted in 2019, researchers examined 291 patients with chronic telogen effluvium and 258 healthy individuals. They found that those with chronic telogen effluvium had significantly lower serum levels of 25-HydroxyVitamin D compared to the healthy group, with a vitamin D deficiency prevalence of 82.1% in the patient group. Consequently, they suggested that routine evaluation of serum 25-HydroxyVitamin D levels in patients with this condition could be beneficial, and that vitamin D supplementation might be a potential treatment option, pending further research.
