A surface with VEGF can specifically capture endothelial cells from flowing fluids.
research Cryopreservation of engineered hair follicle germs for hair regenerative medicine
This study explored the cryopreservation of hair follicle germs (HFGs) for hair regenerative medicine using slow vitrification methods. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and carboxylated poly-l-lysine were tested as cryoprotectants, with DMSO showing the most efficient hair regeneration in mouse skin, comparable to non-cryoprotected HFGs. A microfinger device was developed to scale up the process, handling thousands of grafts per patient. Although hair regeneration with microfinger-cryopreserved HFGs was reduced by 20% compared to flat plate methods, it still exceeded 50%. These results suggest that DMSO vitrification and microfingers are promising for cryopreserving tissue grafts in hair loss treatments.
