This review identified 12 herbal plants producing essential oils with pharmacological activities that stimulate hair growth, potentially through enhanced scalp microcirculation, inhibition of 5α-reductase, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, anagen phase stimulation, and increased dermal papilla cell proliferation.
