natural dye from Lawsonia inermis used for body art

Henna, also known as Lawsonia inermis, is a natural dye derived from the leaves of the henna plant. It has been traditionally used for centuries to create temporary body art, known as Mehndi, and to dye hair, skin, and nails. The active compound, lawsone, binds with keratin in the skin and hair, resulting in a reddish-brown stain that can last from a few days to several weeks, depending on the application and care.
