January 2023 in “Trakia Journal of Sciences”
The study assessed clinical symptoms and hemato-biochemical changes in 4599 goats infested with lice, focusing on 20 goats divided into two groups: one with Bovicola caprae (biting lice) and the other with Linognathus stenopsis (sucking lice). Clinical signs included alopecia, skin lesions, and inflammation. Hematological and biochemical changes included normocytic hypochromic anemia and hypoferremia in goats with sucking lice, and leukocytosis, hyperproteinemia, and hyperalbuminemia in those with biting lice. These parameters normalized by the 30th and 60th days post-treatment with Eprinomectin.
