Dermatophytosis, also known as ringworm, is a fungal infection of the skin, hair, or nails caused by dermatophytes. These fungi thrive in warm, moist environments and can spread through direct contact with infected individuals, animals, or contaminated surfaces. The infection typically presents as red, itchy, circular rashes with clearer skin in the center, resembling a ring.
