structure and components of a hair strand and follicle

Hair anatomy refers to the structure and components of a hair strand and its follicle. Each hair consists of the hair shaft, which is the visible part above the skin, and the hair root, which is embedded in the follicle beneath the skin. The hair shaft is made up of three layers: the cuticle (outer layer), the cortex (middle layer), and the medulla (inner layer). The follicle includes the bulb, where cells divide and grow to form the hair, and is surrounded by sebaceous glands that produce oil to condition the hair and skin.
