    GlossaryRiboflavin (B2)

water-soluble vitamin essential for energy production and metabolism

Riboflavin, also known as Vitamin B2, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in energy production and the metabolism of fats, drugs, and steroids. It is essential for the proper function of the skin, lining of the digestive tract, blood cells, and other vital organs. Deficiency in riboflavin can lead to symptoms such as sore throat, redness and swelling of the lining of the mouth and throat, cracks or sores on the outsides of the lips (cheilosis) and at the corners of the mouth (angular stomatitis), and a swollen, magenta-colored tongue (magenta tongue).
