TLDR Adding zinc to papaya extract speeds up wound healing.
The study investigated the enhancement of wound healing efficiency by adding zinc and selenium to green papaya extract (GPE). Using a mouse model with induced epidermal wounds, the researchers found that the addition of 100 µM zinc to GPE resulted in the highest rate of wound healing, achieving about a 50% reduction in initial wound size within the first 4 days. This was more effective than using 200 µM zinc, selenium, or a commercial wound healing agent, solcoseryl, which only achieved up to a 30% reduction. Additionally, the 100 µM zinc-treated group showed no signs of inflammation and experienced significantly faster hair regrowth on the healed skin compared to other treatments. The study involved 5-7 mice per treatment group.

Replies suggest that while carbs are not directly needed for hair growth, they help regulate hormones and nutrient absorption, and rapid weight loss can also contribute to hair loss.
