Assessment of Zinc Deficiency and Nutritional Status Among Pregnant Women from District Mardan, KP, Pakistan

    The study involving 200 pregnant women in District Mardan, KP, Pakistan, revealed significant nutritional deficiencies, with 65.5% having low hemoglobin levels and 63% having low zinc levels. Symptoms such as hair loss, nail changes, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting were common. Despite the consumption of zinc-rich foods, only 6.5% of the women engaged in daily exercise, and 52.5% reported sleeping only 1 to 3 hours. The study recommends nutritional interventions to enhance maternal and fetal health, emphasizing the need for a diet rich in macro and micronutrients.
