TLDR Yak hair stretches mainly due to macromolecules slipping past each other.
The study investigated the macromolecular conformational changes in yak hair fibers during stretching using Raman spectroscopy. It found that macromolecular transformations occurred consistently, with slippage between macromolecules primarily happening in the middle and later stages of stretching. Additionally, the shape changes in cortical cells of yak hair fibers were analyzed before and after stretching using ultrasonic separation. The main mechanism identified for yak hair fiber stretching was the Partial Slippage of Macromolecules, especially at higher stretching ratios.
