The Chinese Herb Xiaoaiping Protects Against Breast Cancer Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia and Other Side Effects: A Randomized Controlled Trial

    The study investigated the effects of the Chinese herbal medicine Xiaoaiping on chemotherapy-induced side effects in 93 breast cancer patients. Patients were divided into a control group receiving routine chemotherapy and a combined group receiving both chemotherapy and Xiaoaiping. The combined group experienced significantly fewer severe cases of alopecia and had a longer disease-free period for alopecia compared to the control group. Additionally, the combined group showed improvements in nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, white blood cell count, aspartate aminotransferase levels, and overall quality of life. Xiaoaiping was found to alleviate several chemotherapy-induced side effects and enhance the quality of life for breast cancer patients.
