TLDR Xiaoaiping reduces chemotherapy side effects and improves quality of life for breast cancer patients.
The study on 93 breast cancer patients found that the Chinese herbal medicine Xiaoaiping, when used alongside chemotherapy, significantly reduced severe alopecia and other side effects like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea compared to chemotherapy alone. Patients receiving Xiaoaiping had longer alopecia-free periods, better white blood cell counts, and improved quality of life as measured by the FACT-B score. Despite these promising results, the study acknowledged limitations such as a small sample size and unclear molecular mechanisms, suggesting the need for further research.
