TLDR A young Caucasian girl had both woolly hair and alopecia areata, which is rare.
A 5-year-old Caucasian girl presented with hair loss over the previous 4 months, retaining some isolated curly hairs on her scalp. Initially diagnosed with trichorrhexis nodosa, further evaluation revealed a combination of woolly hair and alopecia areata. This case highlighted the coexistence of these two rare conditions in a young patient, emphasizing the need for thorough clinical examination and consideration of multiple diagnoses in pediatric hair disorders.
