in “Revista Da Associacao Medica Brasileira”
TLDR People with seborrheic dermatitis often have lower vitamin D levels.
The study "Vitamin D levels in patients with seborrheic dermatitis" involved 113 participants, 53 of whom had seborrheic dermatitis (SD) and 60 were healthy controls. The study found that severe vitamin D deficiency was more common in patients with SD (52.8%) compared to the control group (25.8%). Patients with severe vitamin D deficiency developed SD earlier and were more likely to be women. However, no correlation was found between the site of SD skin involvement and vitamin D levels. The study also found that phosphorus levels were significantly lower in the patient group, but there was no significant difference in calcium or parathormone levels between patients with and without severe vitamin D deficiency. The study concluded that lower levels of vitamin D are associated with SD.
