TLDR Semecarpus anacardium leaf extracts may offer safe, effective cancer treatment alternatives.
The study investigated the anticancer properties of Semecarpus anacardium leaf extracts, focusing on their potential to inhibit the MAP-Tau protein, which is associated with chemoresistance in cancer cells. The ethyl acetate extract showed significant cytotoxicity in MCF-7 cells and induced apoptosis while being safe for normal cells. Molecular docking studies identified 9 compounds targeting MAP-Tau, with compound 13 showing the highest binding energy of -31.75 kcal/mol. The findings suggested that these compounds could serve as cost-effective and less harmful alternatives to conventional cancer drugs.
