TLDR Immunocompromised patients can develop skin and hair issues due to a virus.
The document described viral-associated trichodysplasia as a condition observed in patients undergoing drug-induced immunosuppression to prevent organ transplant rejection. These patients exhibited numerous erythematous papules on the central face and varying degrees of hair loss, particularly affecting facial hair. Histological analysis of the facial papules revealed a unique pattern, indicating that the follicular bulb was primarily producing inner root sheath-type keratin. Electron microscopy identified intranuclear viral particles, although the specific virus was not identified at the time.
