TLDR L-PRF treatment helped heal diabetic foot ulcers effectively.
This study investigated the use of leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) to treat osteomyelitis ulcers in diabetic foot patients. Three patients with osteomyelitis and chronic skin lesions were treated with autologously obtained L-PRF and supernatant serum applied to the lesions after surgical debridement. The study found that all patients showed positive outcomes, with healed skin lesions and no evidence of infection over time. The infections were caused by various bacteria and yeast, but the blood count remained stable. These preliminary results suggested that L-PRF could be an effective, easy, and cost-efficient regenerative therapy for chronic skin lesions in diabetic foot osteomyelitis, potentially enhancing the understanding of wound healing.
