TLDR Men with early-onset hair loss are less responsive to bromocriptine's heart and metabolism benefits.
This study investigated the cardiometabolic effects of bromocriptine in men with prolactin excess, comparing those with early-onset androgenic alopecia (group 1) to those with normal hair growth (group 2). Over 4 months, both groups received bromocriptine treatment. While both groups experienced reductions in prolactin, increases in testosterone, and improvements in insulin sensitivity, group 2 showed stronger improvements in these areas and additional benefits such as increased HDL cholesterol and decreased triglycerides, fibrinogen, and UACR. The study concluded that men with early-onset androgenic alopecia were partially resistant to the cardiometabolic benefits of bromocriptine.
