The study focused on trichostasis spinulosa, a common disorder of follicular hyperkeratosis, and compared it with similar conditions like keratosis pilaris and eruptive vellus hair cysts. Six patients from the UTMB dermatology clinic were examined, with two also having keratosis pilaris and one having eruptive vellus hair cysts. The research aimed to differentiate these conditions based on clinical presentation and histopathologic appearance. The findings highlighted distinct differences in lesion distribution and microscopic characteristics among the disorders.
