TLDR Trichoscopy is essential for early detection and monitoring of female-pattern hair loss.
The study on 30 women aged 18-45 with female-pattern hair loss (FPHL) found that trichoscopic findings correlate with disease severity. Hair shaft thickness heterogeneity (HSTH) was observed in all FPHL grades. Early stages showed brown peripilar sign (BPPS) and multi-hair follicular units, while later stages had white peripilar sign (WPPS), focal atrichia, and scalp honeycomb pigmentation. The study concluded that trichoscopy is crucial for early detection and monitoring of FPHL, highlighting the need for regular clinical and trichoscopic follow-ups.
