The study observed a mild form of alopecia in middle-aged and older female patients from Slovac communities in northeastern Yugoslavia. These women adopted traditional hairstyles after marriage, which involved tightly gathering and stretching their hair towards the occipital region, securing it with ribbons and an iron comb, and covering it with a "chepiec" and a decorative kerchief. This practice was linked to traction alopecia due to the constant tension and compression on the hair.
