TLDR Topical cyclosporin promotes hair growth.
The study investigated the effects of topical cyclosporin A (CyA) on hair growth using human split-thickness skin grafts transplanted onto nude mice. Twenty mice were divided into two groups based on skin thickness (1 mm and 0.4 mm) and treated with CyA in olive oil, while a control group of ten mice received only olive oil. Hair growth was observed exclusively in the CyA-treated groups, with 4 out of 10 grafts in each group showing hair growth. The study concluded that topical CyA induced hair growth, supporting previous findings of its beneficial effects on hair growth, as evidenced by the presence of terminal follicles in the anagen phase after transplantation.
